History of Our Church
The church was established June 3, 1990. Fifty eight members met for the first time in the Reagan room of Town & Country Motel. The first minister was John Villareal with his wife Leann. Carroll Holmes, Mel Pirtle and Jesse Stringham were selected to be the elders. Ken Brewer, Buddy Francis, Dwayne Hagemeier, and Mike Stewart were selected as deacons.
On June, 24, the congregation moved to a new location at 600 E. Neches Street. It continued to meet at that same location until January 16, 1994.
The first full time minister, Mark Embree, his wife Susan and their son, Shaun were welcomed to the church in November 1992. The membership had grown to more than one hundred twenty-five.
The church purchased 81/2 acres at 1434 Court Drive and built a multipurpose building of 10,000 square feet in 1994.
The name of Court Drive Church was adopted when moving to the new building for the first time on January 16, 1994. One hundred thirty-seven were present at the first service. We held an open house celebration on February 6 with three hundred forty present.
In August of 1994 we lost our minister and began the search for a new preacher. In June of 1995 our new minister, Danny Sidders arrived with his family, Marianne, his wife and two children, Austin and Danielle. Through Danny’s leadership and training the “Small Group” concept of church meetings was established and continues to this day.
In 1998 the work was finished on the second level of the building offering us much more space for classrooms, workrooms, restrooms, and a sound booth.
Danny and his family with two additional children, Peyton and Caroline worked with us until January 2006, when they took a position in Oklahoma.
Thus we began our search again for a minister. With the help of Joe and Janelle Baisden as interim minister we spent the next nine months looking for Paul Jones. He and his wife, Sharron and daughter Dianne joined us in October 2006.
